South Yorkshire indie starlets THE SHERLOCKS aren’t likely to leave a stone unturned when they rock up to Academy 1 on September 15th. Arguably the hardest working indie band Sheffield has produced in a generation, the ascending four piece have gone from strength to strength having recently sold out their first UK tour embarked upon earlier this year. Expect ingenious riffs and an army of fans for a band establishing themselves as one of the UK’s coolest new acts.
Blunt-force post-punks SHELLAC are the brainchild of uncompromising indie rock producer Steve Albini and have been distilling their eviscerating brand of hardcore for over three decades. Known for their mercurial output such as 1000 Hurts and Terraform, Shellac have a distinctive minimalist sound based on urgent time signatures and amorphic song structures. Still reeling from the band’s fifth LP, ‘Dude Incredible’ Shellac are antagonising Academy audiences on October 5th – those easily offended need not attend. Tickets on sale now!
Celebrated as one of the original punk bands THE DAMNED have forged an impressive musical legacy. The first of their coterie to release a single, an album and to tour the US, the Croydon five-piece have always been considered trailblazers within their craft. Celebrating their 40th-anniversary last year, their gargantuan oeuvre combines elements of metal, prog and goth culture. With a forthcoming album announced via the band’s PledgeMusic page there has never been a better time to familiarise yourself with one of the UK’s most quintessential live bands. You can catch punk pioneers The Damned on Wednesday 31st of January at Manchester Academy with tickets available now.
